Dear Brewer Island Families,
Welcome back to a new school year! On behalf of the Brewer Island Staff, I would like to welcome you to an exciting 2017-2018 school year. The SMFCSD facilities and maintenance crew are working extremely hard to ensure BIES is ready for our students on the first day of school. Over the summer our school was given a fresh coat of paint and currently the roof is being replaced. In addition, teachers are preparing their classrooms and curriculum for the start of school. We look forward to seeing you in just a couple of weeks!
Please join me in welcoming three new staff members to the BIES family. I warmly welcome Claire Cremers, 2nd Grade Teacher, Michael Dalmadge, Preschool SDC Teacher, and Gwindale Person, 3rd -5th Grade SDC Teacher. They will be wonderful additions to the Brewer Island School community.
Most school communication will be delivered through email and the school website. Please continue to view the Brewer Island website (http://brewer-island.smfcsd.net/ )for information regarding upcoming events. In addition, we will email parents weekly with an updated calendar of events, send a monthly newsletter announcing the wonderful things that are happening at BIES, and send fliers home with your child regarding important events and scheduling changes such as Open House dates and times and early dismissals. If you change your email address please update your email address with the Office so you do not miss important information.
Information regarding PTA events and activities will be sent through the PTA website at https://brewerislandpta.membershiptoolkit.com. Please register on the site to receive important information on PTA activities, including Math Night, Ice Cream Social, Movie Nights, etc. You do not have to join the PTA to receive information from this site, although you will have to register to receive the email communications. You will also be able to fill out forms, purchase Spirit Wear, make Dolphin Drive Contributions, and find out about upcoming PTA events on the site.
The Brewer Island website, http://brewer-island.smfcsd.net/ contains forms for you to fill out and return on Monday, August 14, during Maze Day which is our Start Of School event. If you are unable to print these forms, hardcopies will be available at Maze Day as well. Parents have the opportunity at this event to turn in school forms, learn about our PTA, pay for hot lunches, purchase a student planner (required for all 3rd-5th grade students) and pick up his/her child’s class assignment. Additional information regarding Maze Day may be found on the BIES PTA website at: https://brewerislandpta.membershiptoolkit.com/home. For those who are unable to attend Maze Day, your child will bring home important forms on the first day of school for you to complete. Be sure to return your envelope with your completed forms to school immediately. This envelope will be used as your weekly information packet for the remainder of the school year. Please note that a $2 charge applies for replacement of lost envelopes.
Class Lists will be posted on the front windows of the school on Monday, August 14 at 5:30pm. The first day of school, Tuesday, August 15, is quickly approaching.
The schedule for the first day of school is as follows:
